Eden Grinshpan’s Immunity Bomb, straight from the freezer

It’s that time of year again! Cold and flu (and Covid and RSV) season. When I became a parent I became aware of a widespread panic that begins to set in during wintertime, for people that have children. Illness catches on to one member of the family (the child attending daycare or PreK is usually the culprit), and proceeds to have that family in its chokehold for weeks (months?). We’ve been pretty lucky so far, but still I try to take precautions around this time of year. Tycho is suddenly very verbal and one day recently his voice began to sound raspy and I realized I hadn’t yet prepared, and needed to get right on it before it was too late.

Wednesday morning I set out for Adam’s with the following list:

  • 1lb chicken wings

  • 1-2lb chicken quarters (thigh and drumstick connected)

  • fresh ginger

  • fresh turmeric

  • celery

  • carrots

  • prunes

  • yellow onions

  • local honey

  • garlic (5 heads)

  • a bunch of lemons (5+)
