Like any Italian-American kid, one of my all-time favorite meals is Italian Sausage and Onions and Peppers. I grew up eating this in many forms. As a sandwich à la Johnnie’s—followed by lemon Italian Ice in a giant paper cup (iykyk); as a meat-forward weeknight dinner; more recently as a sheet-pan meal thanks to two of my favorite recipes (Dan Pelosi’s Sausage & Peppers & Onions & Potatoes, and Mina Stone’s Italian Sausage with Roasted Vegetables); and of course, as a pasta.
