A pantry item we always have on the shelf is a tin of sardines. Everyone in this household loves them, even Shelby, who occasionally gets one thrown from Tycho’s direction. I eat sardines on toast, on salads (arugula, plus canned chickpeas, plus sardines is an easy, excellent meal), I eat them directly from the tin standing at the counter, and of course, I also eat them in pasta.
